Dental emergencies happen. A broken tooth, tooth aches or crown that came loose are common emergencies. The office does accept new patients that have a dental emergency during regular office hours on Monday through Friday.

What happens during a dental emergency visit?

When you contact the office the front desk will make an appointment to see Dr. Van Kooten as soon as possible. The front desk will work your appointment into the schedule next to other patients, so a little patience helps. Dr. Van Kooten will do an emergency based exam and in most cases an x-ray will be taken. Then she makes a determination and explains your options. She may write a prescription and refer you to a specialist for further evaluation or treatment. Based on the situation a follow up appointment may be needed for treatment based on the option you chose. Sometimes Dr. Van Kooten may be able to handle the situation on the spot.
